The Maharashtra State CET is conducted to get admission into the MBA or MMS programs offered by Maharashtra state colleges and universities. It is a computer-based examination. MAH-CET exam is jointly conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra(DTE Maharashtra) in association with the State CET Cell.

The four sections of the MAH MBA CET exam are as follows:

  • Logical Reasoning
  • Abstract Reasoning
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension

The exam is conducted once a year. The application fee is Rs 1000 for the general category and Rs 800 for the reserved category. Students can get admission into over 200 MBA institutions in Maharashtra based on their scores in the MAH CET. Lakhs of students take the test every year from all across the country.

The application procedure for MAH-CET generally starts in February for the exam to be held in March of that year. The exact dates for 2021 are expected to be announced soon.

  • The basic eligibility for taking admission to any MBA programs across the state of Maharashtra is 50% in your undergraduate course for any stream. The same criteria stand at 45% for the reserved category.
  • It is an online test conducted online by the State CET cell. The test consists of 200 questions with a duration of 150 minutes.
  • Logical Reasoning (75 questions)
  • Abstract Reasoning (25 questions)
  • Quantitative Aptitude (50 questions)
  • Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (50 questions)

If you have already prepared for other MBA entrances such as CAT, you can focus on dealing with the Logical Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning, and Verbal logic sections which stand out as the new grounds to cover.

Following are a few tips you can use to prepare for the exam efficiently:

  • In the first 2- 3 weeks of your preparation, you could engage in assessing and strengthening your fundamentals. Scan through the syllabus to identify the areas you find challenging. The logical reasoning section is the most important and difficult and is given the highest weightage with 75 questions. Having the maximum number of questions in the exam, it is also possible to score more in that section. The main point is that you should follow the instructions meticulously in order to excel. The verbal section is an important part of the test and can be mastered with a lot of practice and mock tests. Increase your reading habits to work on improving your verbal abilities. Read more books and newspapers to increase your speed, vocabulary, comprehension and retention capabilities.
  • Try to dedicate at least one hour to each section every day. This time allocation is variable (based on your assessment and requirement); however, ensure that you spend more time improving your weak areas.
  • A significant part of your preparation should be centered on speed building, given the exam consists of solving 200 questions in 150 minutes. Improving calculation and reading speed will help you save time during the exam. Thus, gaining the necessary familiarity with the concepts coupled with consistent practice via mock tests/sectional tests would go a long way.
  • Taking time-bound tests is critical, especially for a speed-based exam like MAH-CET. Give 2–4 mocks per week followed by a rigorous analysis of each to measure your progress. Take note of your weak areas, improvise, and change your strategy accordingly. MBA-CET is all about accuracy with speed. Gaining the necessary familiarity with the concepts coupled with the consistent practice via mock tests or sectional tests would go a long way. The more you practice, the more confidence you gain and your speed in solving the questions gradually increases.
  • Use flashcards to keep a note of basic formulae and shortcuts for solving questions quickly. Flashcards are an effective way to note down and retain information in short for a quick look through or revision.
  • It is very easy to get overwhelmed during preparation or examination, thus it is very important to keep calm during the examination as overdosing on stress and pressure will impair your performance. Try not to save difficult topics for the end. The sooner you get the difficult topics out of the way, your workload will reduce as the exam date approaches. Leaving them uncovered till the last phase of your preparation will add to unnecessary stress. It is advisable to not discuss the syllabus covered with your fellow test-takers as it only adds to the level of stress. Focus and be confident about your preparation and learn to let go of topics that you may have missed before or are too difficult to understand right before the exam.
  • The MH-CET exam is a difficult one but can be cracked with good preparation and time management. Moreover, it is also necessary that you give a significant number of practice tests and full mock tests to enhance your performance for the final day. Do not bundle up the toughest topics for the last few days of preparation as it will make you overwhelmed. The amount of time each person takes to reach a level considered sufficient to “crack” MAHCET would be different for different people, and it is a journey one needs to take themselves.

All of the things mentioned above will only work if you constantly have a motivated mindset. Do not give up or slow down due to a lack of motivation. Focus on your goals and take the exam with a calm mind to the best of your abilities. Good luck to the 2021 test-takers! From EduCrack.
